Crazy Christmas Lights in Livermore

During the Christmas season, Livermore is a great place to drive around and check out awesome Christmas light displays like the one you see in the video I took above. That awesome Frozen themed show is at 646 Zermatt Street. The creator even has a website: LivermoreLights.com with info and videos from past shows.

But that’s not the only show in town. There is a great website (started in Livermore) called LightsOfTheValley.com. It’ll list all the awesome holiday light displays all around California. What’s even better is that you can select 10 addresses, and it’ll even plot driving directions to see them all. How cool is that!

Enjoy the holidays Livermore!

Livermore Pumpkin Patches

Livermore Pumpkin Patches

Halloween is upon us and you know what that means… PUMPKINS!!!

While picking up pumpkins at the grocery store is convenient, it just doesn’t get you into the Halloween spirit like a pumpkin patch does.

While I haven’t found The Great Pumpkin, during my quest I did discover a couple great pumpkin patches in Livermore. We have Joan’s Farm & Pumpkin Patch on Mines Road and G&M Farms on Airway Boulevard. While they are not “cut-your-own” patches, they do both offer lots of pumpkins and plenty of entertainment for the family.

Before you head out on your great pumpkin quest, read on for more info about Livermore’s great pumpkin patches below.

Tri-Valley Ice – Go Ice Skating in Livermore

Views: Tri Valley Ice, Livermore, CA by Kirk Sylvester

My fiancé Andrea commutes to the peninsula a few times a week and listens to 101.7 KKIQ for their frequent traffic updates and music. I’m more of a Live 105 guy, but who’s judging right? 🙂

She tells me that KKIQ has been advertising about the grand opening for a new ice rink in Livermore called Tri-Valley Ice.

Being all nonchalant-like I said, “Yeah, I know.”

Yeah, right. My alternative-rock butt did’t know squat.

Of course I kept cool and said, “We should go check it out, I’ve been hearing all about it on the radio.”

Awesome Christmas Lights in Livermore

Deacon DaveDo things seem more festive this December or is it just me? While driving around Livermore, and walking around my neighborhood, there seems to be a lot more homes decorated with Christmas lights this year. More homes lit up, more blinky lights, just more festiveness all around. It’s kind of nice!

If you are interested in checking out some great displays in town, there is a great website that you must bookmark. CaliforniaChristmasLights.com (also known as Lights of the Valley) is a website that started right here in the Livermore Valley by Alex Dourov back in 1999. It’s expanded quite a bit over the years where it currently maps almost 350 homes in 117 cities in California. After you visit the website, be sure like their Facebook page too.

While you are driving through town, here are a few places that are worth checking out…

Deacon Dave’s
Hillcrest Ave, Livermore, CA, 94550

Did You See Bigfoot?

As I was heading over to Home Depot Sunday afternoon, I saw the most awesome truck in the world…Bigfoot!!!

Is that cool or what?!

Wheel Works, Livermore’s newest tire store, is celebrating its grand opening. Right out front was Bigfoot with its huge tires resting on top of an old Saturn; with its freshly crushed glass and all.

With my camera in the back seat and a tire sensor light on my dash, someone/something was trying to tell me something. This was my once-in-a-lifetime-star-aligning moment. Hmm, I should have bought a lottery ticket too… Oh well.

After I took some photos and wiped the drool from my chin, I popped inside to see if they could top off the air in my tires to get rid of that glowing amber bulb that’s been annoying me for the past two days. He had me pull around back and added a few puffs of air at no charge. Turns out my spare was the culprit. Imagine getting a flat only to find your spare is flat too. Yikes!

Thanks much for the air Wheel Works… Welcome to Livermore!
