Pedaling 4300 Miles from the Golden Gate to West Point

Gate to Point

As I was reading the news today, I came across an article about a Livermore couple currently pedaling 4300 miles from the Golden Gate to West Point.

Then I stopped and yelled out, “Hey, I know that guy!”

Tom was my boss when I worked at the lab. Great guy doing an amazing cross-country bike ride as part of fund raising effort for Cause – Comfort For America’s Uniformed Services. Way to go!

You can follow their adventure on Tom’s “Gate to Point” blog at gatetopoint.tumblr.com

…and here is the news article from The Independent with more information about their ride: Aid to Veterans: Livermore Couple Starts Coast to Coast Bike Ride.

Have an awesome and safe ride guys!

Thirsty Raccoon in our Kitchen for a Late Night Drink

We just had an early morning visitor in our kitchen last night. A thirsty raccoon got through our SureFlap Microchip Pet Door into the garage and ultimately to our kitchen for a drink. The video above is at our second pet door into the kitchen.

We are guessing that the drought is causing our local critters to be a bit more bold. We’ve seen them wander the neighborhood over the years. This is the first time we’ve had raccoons make their way inside, let alone defeat our $200 pet door. *sigh*
