De Afghanan Kabob House
1550 Railroad Ave
Livermore, CA 94550
A couple of weeks before my wedding, my friends took me around Livermore for my last day on earth as a bachelor.
It was a day of brewery hopping, go-karts, food, bars and other adventures that’ll of course only stay between my friends and I. Livermore ain’t Vegas, but what happens between friends in Livermore stays between friends in Livermore.
Since my circle of friends vary in age quite a bit, not all of them were up for the full adventure the other guys had planned out for me. Instead, they decided to take me out a week later for some Afghan cuisine.
Now there are two Afghan restaurants in Livermore. The other, Roya Afghan Cuisine located downtown on First Street, and the one we visited, De Afghanistan Kabob House located on Railroad Avenue between O’Reilly Auto Parts and Dollar Tree. You know, that shopping center where you almost get rear ended every time you try to turn into the parking lot.
One of my fellow partygoers recommended the place. He’s a regular and I can see why. The food is awesome. Others seem to agree as they are one of the top rated restaurants in Livermore according to Yelp reviewers.
It was hard for me to keep track of everything since we had a half-dozen of us and they kept serving me drinks. But I was able to jot some quick notes and snap a few photos.
So here are the highlights of my experience at De Afghanistan Kabob House:
- Frosted beer glasses! Woo hoo!
- The sauces and spices are superb.
- The music is perfect for the atmosphere.
- The art and decor throughout the restaurant will grab your attention. It’s her eyes!
- The dark granite tables are really shiny.
- The Afghan bread melts in your mouth.
- Portions are good.
- The lamb is so tender that it cuts easily with a butter knife.
The service here was great, the food was outstanding, and we all walked out of there quite stuffed and happy. I couldn’t have asked for a better meal during my last days as a bachelor
If you’re up for Afghan food or want to try something new, I highly recommend trying this place out. I’m curious as to how they compare to Roya Afghan Cuisine? Only time will tell as I continue on with, (queue the dramatic music)… The Great Livermore Restaurant Challenge.
