Jack in the Box

When you take on a challenge to try every restaurant in town, it really gets you out of your comfort zone with the added bonus of experiencing some really great food.
That’s one of the reasons why I started this challenge. The second is to hopefully inspire others to get out and discover new places in Livermore too.
Now not every restaurant in Livermore is full of excitement and adventure. Part of the deal with trying every restaurant in town is to, well, try every restaurant in town. That includes the fast food joints that we all know quite well.
That leads me to Jack in the Box, my 43rd restaurant for The Great Livermore Restaurant Challenge.
Jack and the Box has three locations in Livermore; one is downtown, the other two are along I-580 at the Livermore Avenue and Vasco Road exits. This week the Vasco location is my choice for a late night snack.
The first think I noticed when walking in was a sign that read, “NOTICE: The combo numbers on your favorite breakfast items have changed. Sorry for the confusion.”
Luckily I wasn’t confused; I was having dinner, I don’t have a favorite breakfast item, and I’ve never memorized a combo number in my life. Whew!
The dining room is very nondescript. It’s one of the plainest dining rooms I’ve ever seen, not that it’s an important part of my fast food dining decision process. The tables were empty, a couple trash bins, a soda machine, a few “Jack” posters and a TV that wasn’t on during my visit.
I ordered to-go for my wife and I. We had a couple Jumbo Jacks with fries and a few pairs of 99 cent tacos. I don’t know what it is about those tacos. My wife hates them but I just love them. I know they are so bad for you but for some reason they just taste so good to me even though I always get indigestion afterwards.
With most fast food restaurants, you have to review them for what they are. This Jack in the Box offers exactly what you’d expect. It’s a decent fast food joint that’s right off the freeway and is open till 2am.
I’d write more about this Jack in the Box, but there’s not much else to say. Besides, my tacos are getting cold. 🙂
