It was a nice Livermore afternoon and my tummy was growling as it was way past lunchtime. Turns out J.T. was growling for a different reason – she really wanted to get out for some fresh air.
I grab her leash, her water, my keys, and my wallet as we hop in my truck and head over to Taco Bell. Yep, J.T. is on her way to meet Gidget, the Taco Bell chihuahua for #22 of The Great Livermore Restaurant Challenge.
Livermore has several Taco Bell’s. Back in March I wrote about the Vasco location. This time I decided to visit the one on Las Positas Road in the Target shopping center.
Tucked in the corner across from Big 5 Sporting Goods, this location is unique as it does not have a drive-thru as most do. Inside, it’s one of the nicest Taco Bell’s that I’ve seen. It’s quaint and colorful with some cool southwestern Taco Bell inspired artwork hanging throughout the dining room.
After I dropped $4.22 on the counter, it didn’t take long until I was handed a bag containing a Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco, a Crunchy Taco, and a Bean Burrito.
Sadly Gidget wasn’t available for autographs. That’s what I told J.T. anyway. I couldn’t tell her the truth that Taco Bell’s famous mascot passed away in 2009.
So we were back on the road for a quick drive as J.T. and I head to nearby Lester J “Les” Knott Park on North Mines Road. It’s a great park with picnic tables, basketball courts, a playground, and lots of grass to play in. I chose one of the picnic tables where I gobbled down my Taco Bell goodness.
After my meal, J.T. led me around where she stopped, sniffed, and left her mark for future canine patrons. It’s a gem of a park and if you’re looking for a place to relax and have lunch on a nice afternoon, I highly recommend a visit if you’re in the neighborhood.
Stay tuned next week for stop #23 of The Great Livermore Restaurant Challenge where I try loaded sweet potao almost the size of a football.
